DWCCC 1300 North Transmission Line Project
Project Period of Performance: July 2018 – May 2020
The project consisted of removing and replacing 4,715 LF of 42” Transmission Line for Irrigation in Sunset and Clinton Cities. Required meeting a critical deadline in April for when water was going to be turned back on with no exceptions. Executed potholes ahead of time during the design process to determine desired grade for the new main line to avoid utility conflicts with the existing underground utilities. Bored and Fused 42” DR32.5 HDPE 15 foot deep by 120-foot-long bore under UTA and UP railroad tracks. The installation of the pipe required a wide trench down the middle of the road. Daily production was completed by backfilling the trench before end of shift to allow traffic and residents access to the roadway and homes. Potholing the bore locations ahead of time was critical to helping with the design and alignment of the large 42” pipe and at the bore location.

HAFB Reconstruct 6th Street
from South Gate Ave. to Southwest Gate
Project Period of Performance: 1/31//2018 to 6/3/2019
Contract type was design-build, with SOW requirements and specifications. The project reconstructed 2.2 miles of roadway (6th Street) going from the west side of Southgate Avenue to the west side of Southwest Gate (or Arsenal Road). Roadway work consisted of 19,000 CY of Excavation, 2 miles of asphalt removal by rotomill, installation of 20,000 ton of road base and 15,650 ton of asphalt. Removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, sidewalks, handicap ramps, and waterways. We had to establish a traffic control plan and phasing plan that generated at a minimum: access to all parking areas and roads both sides of 6th street at all times. Traffic access to all parking lots not in the current phasing plan had to be maintained at all times as well as pedestrian access to all buildings. Installed concrete vaults, spanning across the roadway, between the curb of the existing North and South steam vaults, approximately 60 feet. The new vaults were approximately 4’x5’ (WxD) with 8” thick walls. Removal and installation of a traffic signal at Liberty Street.

1300 North-Main Street to 1285 West
Project Period of Performance: July 2022 – December 2023
$5.6 Million dollar contract for the reconstruction of 1300 North. Major items of work include 29,350 SY of asphalt removal, 7,500 CY of roadway excavation, 14,700 ton of roadbase in the roadway, installation of 6,470 LF of 8”-12” culinary waterline, removal and replacement of a new PRV, installation of 2,047 LF of 10”-24” storm drain pipe, remove and replace 5,643 LF curb & gutter, 14,268 SF sidewalk and 6,869 SF of drive approaches. Potholing ahead of the installation crews kept conflicts to a minimum and productions to meet or exceed schedule. Existing roadbase and material from the DWCCC Transmission Line Project was utilized to reduce the quantity of imported materials. Work was phased for the installation of the water line and storm drain to minimize the effect on the traveling public and local residents. We were able to work with the cities and JUB to realign sections of the new utilities to avoid loops and better utility corridor for future improvements.

HAFB North Gate
Project Period of Performance: March 2023 – December 2023
Realignment of 5600 South into Hill Air Force Base, construction of new entrance gate and associated buildings. Work consisted of 257,000 SF of asphalt removal, 33,285 CY of roadway and site excavation, installation of 3,076 LF of water line main, 3,645 LF of various storm drain and 3,182 LF of sewer main. The project required uninterrupted access to the base. This required a lot of phasing and coordination of the site work and utility installation. One major item was the sewer installation across 5600 South while maintain base access. We had to tie-in to an existing manhole that was 20 feet deep and cross the roadway. The majority of the sewer line was 15 to 20 feet deep. Water line main and the services were phased to keep the water service to the gate and various buildings with water supply. This involved off peak hours, including nights and weekends to complete.

3500 West Phase II Reconstruct; Kanesville Elementary to 1200 South
Project Period of Performance: March 2016 – March 2018
This job consisted of 35,500 CY of roadway excavation, 52,000 ton of imported granular borrow, 33,000 ton of road base placed in the roadway section. Installed 13,000 LF of 14” waterline with appurtenance. Placed 24,000 LF of Irrigation/Storm Drain ranging from 12” up to 38” x 60” elliptical RCP. Three active canal crossings with box culverts 3’x 8’ to 5’x 12’. Installations required excess dewatering and bypass pumping efforts. Over 100 drainage structures and a waterline bore under 12th street. The majority of the irrigation/Storm Drain was in open ditches on the shoulder of the roadway. This required dealing with wet/unsuitable soil and a constant flow of water. In addition to the pumping efforts, on site materials were processed and blended with import materials to stabilize the pipe zone and reduce import cost. Phasing the installation of the Irrigation/Storm Drain allowed other utilities to be installed and eliminate waterline loops, saving time and costs to the project. Pin wheels were used in place of the more common hoe packs. Special Features: High traffic area that needed to be phased to allow traffic to continuously flow and maximize work zone areas to compete project in a timely manner.

US-89-Farmington to I-84
Project Period of Performance: March 2020 – May 2023
A complete reconstruct and widening of approximately 9 miles of roadway from Farmington to the I-84 Interchange. Brinkerhoff Excavating was the subcontractor for the storm drain installation. This consisted of installing 98,454 LF of new drainage pipe ranging from 12” to 72”. Various type of pipe were RCP, ADS and HDPE (Fused 6,239 LF). Included with the storm drain was the installation of 817 catch basins and 123 manholes. Oak Hills Constructors added water line work to the original storm drain contract. Added was the culinary water line improvements and betterments for Fruit Heights City. This was the installation of 11,346 LF of 8” and 10” C900 PVC main and associated fitting/services. Heights Creek Irrigation had Secondary improvements and betterments that consisted of 7,819 LF of 18” and 24” C900 PVC main with associated fittings/services.
We assisted with the implementation of phasing plans to work around a high volume of traffic and an extreme number of existing utilities. Installation of the new utilities had installation depths of up to 32 feet. The work required the coordination between UDOT, Various Cities and shareholders (Weber Basin, Davis & Weber Counties Canal Company, and multiple irrigation companies). Communication for both the waterlines with tie-ins and shut downs was critical to ensure service to residents.
